which are not the same thing.. They have a relationship, but it has a large, inversely proportional element. As you advance timing, cylinder component temperature rises and EGT falls. AS you retard timing, cylinder component temperature falls and EGTs rise. As A/F lowers, both cylinder component temps and EGTs fall. As A/F raises, both cylinder component temp and EGTs rise. This is a crude and simple explanation of events, but it reflects what I am saying: When you can't change the boost, to make a safer configuration will be to drop the A/F and the timing together. The drop in power will also notify the driver it is in safety mode.
